Dealers Have Been Given A Smaller, More Affordable Ford Pickup Truck From 2022, it will be Ford’s entry-level model. The summer 2018 saw the first reports about Ford’s plans to launch an affordable and smaller truck in the United States. These could be true, as Automotive News reports that Ford has shown its sub-Ranger pickup truck to approximately 100 high-volume dealers at a Tucson dealer event last month. The codenamed 758 is a small utility that will be released by 2021. Its starting price will be under $20,000, making it at least $5,000 less than the base Ranger. Ford plans to produce and sell 100,000 units of the truck each year at its Mexican plant in Hermosillo. The report states that the new product was well received at the dealer gathering. As Ford shifts from sedans to more utility vehicles, the small pickup will replace the Fiesta or Focus. According to a September 2019 report, the vehicle would be built on the platform from the new Euro-spec Focus. It could use both the 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine and the larger 2.0-liter unit. A torque-converter auto eight-speed transmission will also be offered. It is not known what the new entry-level truck’s name will be. According to North American reports, Ford prefers the Courier moniker, but Motor1.com‘s Brazilian team thinks it could revive Ranchero. It is expected that the model will first be released in South America, with a North American launch coming in late 2021 to early 2022.
