Volvo’s 112-MPH top speed limiter has been abused by tunes already It is gone, but not forgotten. Tuners are known for pushing the limits. We knew it would not last so Volvo limited the maximum speed its new vehicles to 112 mph (180 km/h). Many motorists were able to understand the announcement by the Swedish automaker that their cars would only be allowed to travel at such low speeds. However, others weren’t as impressed. Some customers threatened to cancel their orders and move to another brand. The issue is only applicable to European customers, as we have a lower speed limit in the United States. German Volvo trim company Heico Sportiv decided to lift the limiter. The same software used by the tuner to increase horsepower to lift the limiter to between 18 and 43 MPH (30 and 70 km/h). Although it may not seem like much, the software allows the new models reach their old top speed. The feature is available on the hardcore. The T8 has 405 horsepower (302 Kilowatts) and can accelerate to 62 mph (100.6 km/h) in 4.4 seconds. Before being limited to 112mph (181 km/h), it had a top speed at 155 mph (253 km/h). Heico Sportiv has announced that the option will be available at the end next month. Although pricing information is not available for the U.S., it is possible to find out more about availability in the links below.
