It’s a great conversation starter, regardless of whether you like it.
These were the norm in the past, but they aren’t as common anymore. The American two-door SUV is the subject of this article. Some people would prefer more options. There’s the Wrangler as well as the Bronco. But we all want variety.
There were many SUVs back then like the Dodge Ramcharger and the Ford Bronco. And of course the Chevrolet K5 Blazer. Most of us have a fondness for the Chevy. This is largely because they were so ubiquitous. General Motors was forced to exit the two-door full-size SUV market in 1999 after they dropped the Tahoe body style.
Many people still love the K5 Blazer’s spirit. Many people restore it to its former glory while others alter it in some way. Flat Out Autos is one of them. They built it from the Tahoe’s previous generation.
Flat Out Autos, a crew that retrofitted Tahoes to look like Suburbans and Blazers from the 1970s, may sound familiar. The quality of the work is excellent, regardless of whether the design is successful or not. One customer even bought four identical SUVs. Flat Out Autos thought there was enough room for a two-door version.
It is called the K5 Tahoe and even comes with custom badges. Flat Out Autos stated that it was originally a 2018 Z71 Tahoe. They then removed the rear doors and cut a piece out of the middle to make custom side windows. Although the mods can be difficult to do, the end result is worth mentioning. The airbags work as intended, and the parking sensors, lane keep assist, and parking sensors are all still working.
The K5 Tahoe will be displayed at the SEMA Show. You might be able to see it if you are in the area during the first weekend in November.
