Classic Range Rover Restomod will make you forget about the new one

If you have the means to pay it.

The Range Rover is a vehicle that is as beloved as any other. These beloved off-roaders are often the subjects of modernized rebuilds. Kingsley Cars, a UK-based company, is skilled in the restoration of old Range Rovers. However, it has become more ambitious with its new offering. A classic two-door and four-door Range Rover model is now available. It’s been modernized and certified to conform with London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone.

Kingsley Cars has named its new range the ULEZ Range Rover Classic. Although it’s not a very flattering name, it perfectly describes the new off-roader. The vehicle is completely dismantled and rebuilt. This includes fresh welding and mitigation measures to prevent rust and corrosion. The modern 4.0-liter, fuel-injected V8 produces a modest 220 horsepower (164 Kilowatts). A 4.6-liter mill makes 270 hp (213 kW). They are both connected to a ZF 4-speed automatic transmission and a Borg Warner rebuilt transfer case.

The exterior of the vintage Land Rover is beautiful, but inside things are quite different. Modern technology like reverse cameras, parking sensors, wireless chargers and Apple CarPlay integration are all available in the interior. All models include heated seats and power windows. Specialized suspension components with big brakes, LED lights, and other performance enhancements are available for all models. You can also choose electric power steering.

Kingsley Cars does not provide details about the Range Rover’s emissions. However, to be able to drive in London’s ULEZ, a vehicle must comply with Euro 4 emission standards for gasoline engines and Euro 6 for diesel. Kingsley Cars has recently expanded the ULEZ in London and offers its restomod Range Rovers to residents who want to experience the charm of a classic off-roader but don’t have to pay daily fees.

As you might imagine, such modernization does come at quite a cost. The Kingsley Cars Reborn Range Rover Classic is priced at EUR125,000. At current conversion rates, that’s roughly $172,000 which is almost twice the cost of a new model. It is important to be patient if you decide to purchase a vehicle. The build time for a new model takes approximately 6-8 months from the order was placed.
