Smokey & the Bandit has been a cinematic classic and a cult film. The movie is so beloved that it inspires auto designers and tuners over 40 years. Over the years, the Screaming Chicken has made its way onto many makes and models. A modified Chevrolet Silverado by Toyo Tires is the latest to sport the hood bird. It will be debut at this year’s SEMA Show.
The 2021 Silverado Crew Cab RST is the inspiration for the creation. It’s a modern take on the iconic Pontiac Trans Am, which was applied to a street-truck configuration. The design goes beyond black paint and a golden decal. A widebody kit, gold accents and a lower ride height are some of the other features. The tailgate also has what appears to be an spoiler. New wheels, Toyo Proxes ST III tire, and other interior upgrades are some of the visual upgrades.
The 5.3-liter V8 engine under the hood produces 700 horsepower (521kW) thanks to the Magnunson DI supercharger. It breathes through a Magnaflow exhaler. Brembo-supplied monoblock eight piston 4-D brakes stop all that power. Toyo Tires, in collaboration with Saleen & Legendary Concepts at Mt. Pleasant, Texas. It will display the pickup and Toyo’s other revelations at its Treadpass booth.
Toyo will be attending this year’s SEMA Show. 32 vehicles will be on display, so the Silverado will not be alone. The company will also display a 1972 Chevy K5 Blazer, a modified DeLorean DMC-12 and a Mazda RX-7 with 1,000 horsepower (745-kilowatts), as well as a customized Lexus LC500 Convertible. The Screaming chicken should not have any trouble standing out among the crowd.
