The 2022 Range Rover gets a two-door makeover in unofficial rendering

Digitally, the SV Coupe is back.

Although SUV manufacturers love to give their SUVs coupe-like roofs, which compromise some utility in exchange for a touch of style, three-door versions are rare today. The Bronco is Ford’s, Jeep’s Wrangler and Land Rover have the Defender 90. However, LR almost offered the Range Rover SV Coupe, a two-door variant. The brand redirected the model’s funds towards designing the next generation Range Rover.

A new rendering by X-Tomi Design shows a world in which those redirected funds have also spawned a next generation Range Rover SV Coupe. The 2022 Range Rover has been revealed. We now have a better idea of what a next-generation two-door Range Rover might look like – it is not too far from the limited-edition SV Coupe that was presented at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

This rendering shows the new design elements of the two-door model. It features a familiar but radically revised front end, and a horizontal lower grille that extends to the bumper. The whole thing looks futuristic and ready for an all-electric motor. This side has the most drastic changes. The rear doors have been removed and the wheelbase has been shortened to make it more proportionate. It is stunningly contrasted by the striking green and black trim, including grille, roof, and fender accents. It is unlikely that a Range Rover two-door will be available anytime soon, however, for as beautiful as it looks.

Although a Range Rover with two or three doors (depending on your count) is not uncommon, they are losing popularity. Although the first generation Evoque had only two doors, it was not able to survive into the second generation. The aftermarket is available for those who want a three-door Range Rover. Even though electric cars combine once different body styles into one, SUVs and coupe-like crossovers won’t disappear anytime soon. True three-door SUVs, however, will remain rarer.
