The new technology is available in the 2022 Tundra or 2022 NX.
Automakers have realized that infotainment screens are integral to the way owners interact with their cars. Large screens are a hot trend right now – provided you choose the right trim. Others are exploring new features. This means that Toyota and Lexus will spread their latest systems across their respective lineups for the next three to five years.
Lexus finally replaces its much-maligned infotainment systems in the new 2022 NX. It is called Lexus Interface and gives the system a complete overhaul. The new 2022 Tundra pickup featured Toyota’s Audio Multimedia infotainment system. According to Automotive News, Zack Hicks, Toyota Connected CEO, both systems are built in-house and offer the possibility to offer a variety of new services to customers.
The cloud-based system can be updated over-the-air, which allows the automaker to add more features and functions. Hicks stated that the company is already exploring remote refueling services, where a fuel truck could arrive to fill up a gasoline-powered vehicle. Hicks also plans to explore new ways of monitoring the car’s interior, such as scanning for a heartbeat. The car could automatically lower the windows when it senses a heartbeat or interior temperatures become too high.
These new systems will enable the brands to offer connected services such as a parking garage locator that helps you remember where you parked. You could also take a photo of the floor number to keep your location information private and not give it over to another party. Automakers will have another opportunity to attract customers with infotainment screens, and the services they provide. Connected cars offer new opportunities and risks in how people interact with their automobiles.
