Drako Dragon Teaser Promises ‘Leap Forward’ From the 1,200-HP GTE

The debut of the latest electric hypercar is scheduled for January.

The Drako GTE is still in use. It made headlines in 2019, with its 1,200 horsepower (895kilowatts), putting four electric motors to the ground. Drako promised deliveries in 2021, and it made a few appearances in 2020. Drako teased a new version, called the Dragon, to show that the EV performance landscape has changed substantially since GTE’s debut.

There isn’t much else to discuss at the moment. California-based Drako shared a few teaser images showing the Dragon hidden by shadows. Yes, we brightened them to find hidden details. The Dragon looks very similar to the GTE. This is a modified Karma Revero. It is another tweaked copy of the Fisker Karma that dates back to 2012.

We believe the Dragon’s talking points are what you will find underneath the skin. Drako promises that “essentially no Drako GTE system has been left unattended.” The quad-motor powertrain will produce more torque, according to Drako. It also has upgraded batteries that provide more power, range and cooling for better on-track performance. The track will benefit from a new adjustable five-way suspension. Drako will also add tech to the interior in a totally redesigned greenhouse, which promises to be luxurious.

Drako claims that the Dragon will be faster than the GTE in 0-60, but the automaker does not claim the GTE can go 60 mph faster. It’s likely to be in the sub-three second range. However, the Tesla Model S Plaid hit the mark in less than two seconds on a prepared surface so we expect Drako to target a similar time with his Dragon. It’s important to keep up with the competition, especially considering that there is a literal million-dollar price gap between them. Wait, what?

Although we don’t know the pricing information for the Dragon’s, the Drako GTE’s sticker of $1.3 million is more than the Tesla Model S Plaid’s $1 million. That’s what we imagine Drako executives are thinking.
