However, it is not as powerful as street-level versions.
What’s next for the Corvette after ? You may have been thinking about the Eray hybrid or the ZR1 with more than 1,000 horsepower. Although you probably didn’t think of another Z06 model, we do have one. There’s more to it, of course.
The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R is here. Yes, that’s racing. This means that this particular Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R is but not street-legal, but it’s one that the public can purchase. This is a significant deal because Chevrolet offers a complete turn-key car for amateur and professional racing teams. Chevy can provide a Z06 for racing.
What will you get? It is a combination of the C8.R racing car, and the street-going Z06. GT3.R borrows aerodynamic features from the C8.R’s aluminum chassis. They are identical in dimensions, with the V8 flat-plane crank V8 weighing in at 5.5 liters behind the driver. It won’t have the same power as the Z06 street-friendly engine. Chevrolet reports between 500 to 600 horsepower for the GT3.R. This is due to GT3 racing regulations, which are what the GT3.R is designed for. It will, however, be FIA compliant at many venues.
“It’s an exciting moment for Corvette – first with the unveiling of the production Z06, and now confirming Corvette Z06 GT3.R to customer racers,” stated Mark Stielow from Chevrolet’s director formotorsports competition engineering. “The Z06 GT3.R will be available to customer race teams, allowing them to drive a Corvette that has been enriched by Corvette Racing’s rich history.”
Chevrolet has not yet provided a price for Z06 GT3.R. However, the street-friendly Z06 starts at just $100,000 so you can expect a six-figure-plus race car. It will be available for racing in 2024.
