Although it’s a single-off, the concept shows what can be done with a rugged electric vehicle.
The Soul Electric Vehicle Boardmasters Edition was created as a unique creation. It is an off-road-oriented electric vehicle that can take surfer to the waves. This vehicle is part Kia’s sponsorship for the Boardmasters 2021 surf and music festival in Cornwall. The suspension can be lifted by 3.0 inches (7.62 centimeters) to give it a rugged appearance. The front track is 4.3 inches longer (110 millimeters) and the rear track is 4.5 inches longer (115 millimeters). Kia can fit a set 16-inch white-painted steel wheels with Maxxis Bighorn Sand tires. They have a 30 inch diameter.
A tubular steel roof rack is located on the roof. Two Tahe Bic Malibu surfingboards can be stored up there. A solar panel allows you to use small electronics without the main battery. If the party continues into the night, the rack also has two LED spotlights.
The powertrain is unchanged. The engine produces 201 horsepower (150 Kilowatts) as well as 291 pound-feet (395 Newton meters) of torque. The battery can run for 64 kilowatts per hour. This is a unique battery so Kia does not have an estimate of the range. The Boardmasters Edition is painted by Kia in Neptune Blue metallic. The roof is also black. Bright white decals provide a contrast to the exterior.
This unique unit does not have rear seats, which maximizes interior storage space. There is sprucewood decking installed by Kia. A fold-out bench provides a great place to relax while tailgating. The roof’s swinging arm can double as a place to hang wetsuits for drying or as a private space to change towels and hang your towel. The rest of the cabin is unchanged. The 10.25-inch screen is an infotainment screen with support for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The Harman/Kardon 10-speaker stereo lets you enjoy great music while on the road to the surf spot.
