After a lengthy period of debate about whether such a model was possible, Volvo and Geely bosses finally came to an agreement on the development of an S100 flagship model.
The new model will be a challenger to the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and will ride on the larger platform of the next-gen S80. The car will be made at Volvo’s new Chengdu factory. It is not yet known if Geely or Volvo will sell it elsewhere.
The S100, which will sit on top of Volvo’s model range, is more luxurious than the S80L made in China and will likely be much more expensive than the current range-topping model. Although it will be difficult to get customers to leave the German trio, Geely-owned Volvo may find new clients who are looking for something different.
