Other than weight. It will be less.
The Mercedes AMG C63 S Coupe is expected to continue to be the top-of-the-line version with 503 horsepower. Affalterbach has a different opinion. A new report suggests that a R version of the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe is in development and will offer many improvements. Mercedes is not going to resurrect the “Black Series” badge. Instead, Mercedes will give the new flagship C63 model the “R”, suffix in the same way it did with the AMG GT.
This is not a surprise, considering that a mysterious prototype built on the C63 S was seen with a large rear wing. This was an indication that the “R” version of the C63 S may have a more aerodynamic body. It will likely be faster than the S. The S can sprint from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 3.8 seconds, and reach a maximum speed of 180 mph (295 kph).
The hotter R will require more than a sleeker body to improve these numbers. The biturbo 4.0 liter V8 will be used to produce significantly more power than the S’s 503 hp/ 516 lb-ft of torque. Car & Driver doesn’t rule out the possibility that the R will get an extra 100 hp by using the same specification as the AMG engine.
Mercedes_AMG’s answer for the BMW M4 GTS will likely lose some weight. It is expected that the R model will be offered in a more practical sedan body type when it arrives, which is most likely for the 2019 model-year. The R Coupe could reach $100,000 if the wraps are removed, taking into consideration that the S starts at $75,000 MSRP.
