Car & Driver tests M5 and finds a significantly faster acceleration figure than BMW’s 4.4 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint.
This is a comforting reminder for M5 fans who were a bit defensive about the official sprint time of 4.4 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.
American car magazine Car & Driver now has clocked 2012 BMW F10 M5 0-60 mph (96 km/h time) at 3.7 seconds. This makes it comparable with competitors such as the Mercedes-Benz AMG (with performance package). The quarter-mile was also covered by the F10 M5 in 12.0 seconds. The complete results of the testing are available in Car & Driver‘s December 2011, issue.
BMW is known for underestimating their cars’ performance so it’s not surprising an outside test could get a little more from the M5 than the official 4.4 second figure.
