The final gasoline sportscar of the company has begun a 13-city tour in the United States.
Who said sports cars were dead? The new Toyota GR86 / Subaru BRZ twins, and the Honda Civic Si / Acura Integra (also twins)? The Lotus Emira is also available. The final Norfolk sports car with a combustion engine was revealed in July. It is currently touring the United States of America, where it took part in a photo shoot in New York City.
This Emira is not just any Emira. It’s the most expensive, as it comes in the V6 version painted in Shadow Grey with all the bells and whistles. The Emira costs $93,900 which is a significant increase on the sport cars. You can get one for $74,900 if you settle for the four-cylinder, AMG-powered base model.
The Emira with Toyota’s supercharged V6 will not be available for US production until next fall. Soon thereafter, the four-pot configuration in First Edition will follow. The American base model, which we already mentioned, is due to arrive in 2023.
This First Edition has been to Florida, New York, and Las Vegas on Saturday. The tour will continue from Nevada with:
- 11/17 – Lotus of Bellevue, Washington
- 11/20 – Galpin Lotus (Los Angeles, California)
- 11/24 – Lotus Austin (Texas).
- 11/27 – Lotus of Naples, Florida
- 11/29 – Lotus of Orlando, Florida
- 12/01 – Lotus of Atlanta, Georgia
- 12/04/ – Lotus Glenview (Illinois).
- 12/05 – Lotus Indianapolis (Indiana).
- 12/10 – Lotus of Manhattan, New York
- 12/11 – Lotus of North Jersey, (New Jersey).
After its debut in the UK earlier this year, the Emira has traveled extensively all over the globe. It has already been to Kuwait, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. Next year, a European-wide tour will be held to promote the Lotus sports car.
The brand’s first production SUV will be launched in 2022, and it will also launch the second electric model after Evija. It is currently known as the “Type132” codename. In 2023, a four-door coupe will be introduced (Type 133), followed by Type 134, a smaller SUV (Type 134) and a sports car (Type 135) that Alpine co-developed in 2026. All of them will only be sold with electric powertrains, as the Emira was the last gasoline-powered car.
