Jeep’s lawyers should be kept away from the new grille.
It has been a difficult ride for Mahindra to bring its Roxor to market. Although the off-road SUV was small when it launched in 2018,, its design got it in serious trouble with Jeep. It was a little too similar to the Jeep CJ. After a legal battle, we now have a facelifted version of the Jeep CJ for the model year 2022. Although the front end is more generic, it should still be able to fend off lawsuits and lawyers.
Mahindra didn’t make any changes to the model as it is the same except for the face. The new fascia features a single bar running across the mesh grille. It sits in a rectangular opening between two round headlights. The hood has been squared, eliminating the taper that had created two arched wheel wells Jeep did not like.
There are two options for the 2022 Roxor: All-Weather and Base. Each model features the same 2.5-liter turbodiesel motor. It pairs with a five speed manual gearbox and two-speed transfer case. It produces a mere 62 horsepower (46 Kilowatts), but it packs 144 pound-feet of torque (105 Newton-meters) which is ideal for service on farms and ranches. Standard equipment includes four-wheel drive. It can travel up to 55 mph (88 km/h) at the top. It can tow up 3,490 pounds (1.583 kg) and has a maximum towing speed of 15 MPH (24 KPH).
According to the company production of the 2022 Roxor has already begun. The new model will begin shipping to dealers in the first week. Although the Roxor will be competitive with other off-road side by side vehicles such as Polaris and others it will not be inexpensive. The Roxor Base is priced at $18,899 and the All-Weather model starts at $26,299. The All-Weather model comes with an enclosed cabin, side mirrors and other upgrades.
