These recalls cover the Passat as well as the CC.
Volkswagen will recall 280 915 vehicles in the United States due to a possible fuel pump problem. The campaign will include the 2009–2016 CC and 2006–2010 Passat as well as the 2006–2010 Passat Wagon.
Two possible problems could arise. The fuel pump control module can lose electrical power and cause an engine failure. Alternately, the same problem can cause the fuel pump control module to run indefinitely, which could drain your battery.
Volkswagen was first to notice this problem in vehicles made in China in April 2016. Volkswagen conducted an engineering analysis in Germany to discover the problem.
Dealers will replace the fuel pump control module to fix the problem. VW will replace the fuel pump control module with a component from another supplier. The heat buildup will be reduced by placing them in a different location.
VW currently doesn’t have enough replacement fuel pump control module modules to repair all affected vehicles. To notify owners about the problem, the company will first send them a notification. The company will send a second notice to owners, which will allow them to make arrangements for a repair at their dealer.
The 2016 Passat was refreshed by VW. For 2018, a sporty GT version is available. This performance-oriented model features the VW’s long-lasting VR6 engine, stiffer suspension and a lower ride height. The sedan receives aggressive styling upgrades such as larger wheels and other styling tweaks. The only transmission available is an automatic gearbox. It will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in December, and go on sale in January 2013.
VW ceased CC production in November 2016. The Arteon, a four-door sedan with more style from VW, is its spiritual successor.
