Toyota announced plans to release a limited-run special edition of the 86 GRMN that includes many improvements.

Gazoo Racing presented the Toyota GRMN86 concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon last year. Now the car is in production. This is a Japan-exclusive model, and only 100 copies will be ever made. The starting price for the car is almost $53,800.

Gazoo Racing Masters of Nurburgring edition (GRMN), is harder than the GT 86 but it’s still turbocharged. The good news is that output has been increased from 200 horsepower to 151 pound-feet to 216 HP and 160 lbft to the rear wheels via the six-speed manual gearbox. The model went to the gym, losing 100 lbs (45kg), but no information is available on performance.

The modified body features a front splitter as well as a large rear wing. Installing a carbon-fiber hood and plexiglass Windows was able to help with weight loss. The suspension was also retuned to match 17-inch wheels with fatter rear tires. The 86 GRMN features ventilated discs that have six-pot front and four potrear calipers.

This special edition will be displayed by Toyota at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2016.
