2022 Toyota Tundra: Extended Waitlist in Certain Regions

Before it hits showrooms, the pickup’s redesign faces challenges in Southern California.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra will soon be available in showrooms. The third-generation pickup was revealed in June. It comes with a $35,000.00 starting price before destination charges – an increase of $1,925 over its predecessor.

Even if you have the money to purchase one, it may take longer to get one. CarsDirect reports the Tundra’s waitlist, specifically for the TRD Pro model, ranges between nine and 18 months. According to Longo Toyota’s Los Angeles sales representative, this is only for Southern California.

Longo Toyota cites the supply shortage caused by global chip shortages, as Toyota has previously mentioned. The largest Toyota dealership by land area will deliver only 61 Tundras to Los Angeles over the next three-months.

The top-spec hybrid model will require buyers to wait at most nine months. However, Toyota previously stated that the model would not be available until spring 2022. If you are looking for a Tundra fully loaded, you may have to wait until 2022.

The wait times for the other variants range from four to nine month. We don’t know much about the Tundra Capstone but we are betting the same.

The Tundra was not as popular as its rivals, despite America’s love of trucks. It was not even listed in America’s 20 most-sold cars, SUVs and trucks last year.

The new model offers a compelling package to American truck buyers and the Tundra should have a chance to reclaim its sales potential. We don’t believe so, despite this latest development.
