It would be great to see the Integra back on the track.
Acura Integra, which has been resurrected might be able to bring the iconic nameplate back into racing competition. Acura’s parent company Honda will make the final decision.
“We want this thing to race, but maybe the Honda PR & marketing guys might have other ideas,” Jon Ikeda, Vice President of Acura Brand Office told Track.
According to Ikeda Acura should offer more products than Honda. It must be enjoyable to drive, and we are the performance division at Honda. So we won’t shy away from Honda. He told Road & Track that they would have “a little more fun.”
It is not known where the Integra will compete in the USA. This country doesn’t have many top-level touring car race series. The IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge offers one possibility: the TCR class. The entry for this championship was the previous-gen Civic. It was during the 2021 season .
A five-door liftback has been revived from the Integra. It shares the same underpinnings as the new Honda Civic. The Civic’s turbocharged 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine produces power. The Civic Si’s engine produces 200 horsepower (149 Kilowatts) as well as 192 pound-feet (226 newton-meters). Acura has yet to detail the options for the gearboxes.
For the model year 2023, the new Integra will be on sale. Prices for the new Integra should be around $30,000.
Ikeda hopes to see a Type S trim on every Acura model. This would mean that the Integra would also get a more powerful version. According to rumors, this model could get a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that will give it more horsepower than the standard car. The sportier version of this model would get suspension and brake upgrades. There is no indication of a Type R trim.
