To maintain the momentum in sales of the compact crossover, it is worth a little tweaking here and there.
The mid-cycle facelift of the Skoda Karoq, which has sold 500,000 units over four years, is taking place to keep it fresh and competitive in this highly competitive compact crossover segment. The front is where high-end models can get matrix LED headlights. This technology is now available in the facelifted Superb, Kodiaq and the fourth-generation Octavia.
Skoda’s crossovers used a four-light design for the updated model. However, the daytime running lamps in the upper cluster have been redesigned to be two-level. To make the standard full-LED taillights slimmer, we have modified their graphics. The front bumper was modified for design purposes, but also to improve aerodynamics by adding new air curtains. The bumper at the back has a modified bumper to optimize airflow.
The drag coefficient dropped to 0.30 thanks to aero-optimized alloy wheels that range in size from 17 to 19. In other words, it has improved nine percent. The fuel tank has been slightly modified, and the front grille has a wider width to give the Karoq a more rugged look.
Skoda has also made changes inside, where all trims get a standard digital instrument cluster. The lower-spec models have an 8-inch display, while the higher-spec models have a 10.25-inch larger screen. There are four options for infotainment systems, the largest measuring 9.2 inches. It also supports over-the-air updates.
A new Eco pack has been introduced to the cabin, which includes vegan seat covers, leather-like materials and a microsuede at the armrests in Mocca Brown. The Karoq’s facelifted Karoq features extended ambient lighting in 10 colors, and a footwell that is illuminated in white. There are also options for chrome or piano black trims, depending on which version.
The 2022 Karoq receives a memory function for its electrically adjustable front passenger seats, starting with the Style specification. The Sportline has its own design inside and outside, bringing it closer than an RS, but with a more modern look. To give it a more modern look, some trim levels feature new door cards.
In Europe, the company’s second-best-selling model in 2020 and in the first half this year after the Octavia will go on sale in the early 2022. The Karoq will not be available with a plug in hybrid powertrain, as Skoda previously stated that only the Octavia or Superb would continue to use a PHEV setup because they are popular fleet models.
