Mercedes A-Class Taken in Little Camo Testing in the Snow

Mercedes has nothing to hide.

Mercedes has been working on a redesign A Class hatchback. New spy shots captured the cold-weather testing of the model in Sweden. Mercedes will not be giving the car a major makeover as they are showing it with very minimal camouflage. The A-Class’s new design should be able to translate to smaller Mercedes models such as the A Class sedan, CLA and GLB. However, stylistically, they won’t make any significant changes.

Mercedes won’t be rewriting the refresh formula for the A-Class. The car will get modestly updated front and rear fascias but they will not make major changes. The car will receive a new front bumper, a new grille and new headlight designs. The shape of the headlights should not change. The sensor for various safety and driver assistance systems should be located at the Mercedes logo front.

Redesigning the rear of the car will be more subtle than that of the front. The taillights will also get new internals. Mercedes appears to be changing the lower rear bumper to a new diffuser. However, there isn’t much that is different from the current model. Although there won’t appear to be any changes inside, there will be some updates to the infotainment system and connectivity features. Customers love the latest technology.

Mercedes may make changes to the A-Class’s powertrain lineup, which is something that defies most mid-cycle expectations. Rumours suggest that the company might use new engines by Geely to replace the Renault-sourced petrol engines. Mercedes has not yet revealed what it will do. Mercedes will most likely wait to unveil the new model. This could be early next year, with the resigned model coming to market for the 2023 model years. Customers can expect an AMG variant with high performance to be unveiled after the regular model.
