2022 Jeep Wrangler, Updated in Europe Where It Is Now PHEV – Only

Special-run colors are also available for the off-roader.

It is not surprising that Jeep will offer the Wrangler only in Europe with its PHEV configuration beginning in 2022. Jeep had announced earlier this year that it would remove the Wrangler two-door from its European lineup. This is because tighter emissions regulations have made it impossible for the gasoline engine to be offered. Jeep announced the 2022 Wrangler lineup today for the Old Continent. We knew this six months ago.

Europeans will need to choose the four-door Wrangler 4xe plug in hybrid for their off-road adventures. Order books are available at Jeep showrooms across Italy, Spain and Belgium. Throughout December, Jeep will offer access to additional countries. Wrangler 4xe combines a 2.0-liter four cylinder gasoline engine with two electrical motors and an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It delivers a powerful 375 horsepower (280kilowatts). The all-electric range is quiet and can travel up to 50 km (31 miles).

New standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, adaptive high beams and collision warning with brake assistance. This joins blind-spot monitoring and rearview cameras, as well as front and rear park assist. Jeep also offers its Performance Parts Gorilla Glass windshield as an option on the Sahara and Rubicon trims.

The Jeep gets two new factory colors, Silver Zynith Metallic Clear Coat (and High Velocity Metallic Clear Coat), and the special-run colors Tuscadero or Gobi. From now until January 2022, Jeep will be offering Tuscadero. Gobi will be available from Summer 2022. Jeep will also offer the off-roader a new Sunrider flip-top that joins the soft top, soft top, power soft, and topless configurations.

Jeep intends to make hybrid-only Wranglers in Europe as part of its commitment to selling 70 percent of its global Jeep range of electrified vehicles by 2025.
