A Genesis Genesis is not a posh Hyundai? It’s the Grandeur.
Despite the fact that sedan sales have suffered in recent years, Hyundai will not stop making its flagship saloon. You’ll be surprised to learn that Genesis, the luxury division of Hyundai, will gladly sell you a G80 and a G90 as an alternative to the Grandeur. The new G90 will be able to produce a longer-wheelbase version that can reach higher into the premium category.
Hyundai believes that there is still room for a seventh generation Grandeur, a large sedan with a lot of heritage dating back to 1986 when it was rebranded as the Mitsubishi Debonair. The retrotastic Heritage concept, a South Korean brand that revived the original-gen car’s relevance, was unveiled a month ago. The attached spy video shows the next Grandeur, with cues taken from the electric one.
The prototype camouflaged prototype was captured at home and had the same quarter-glass layout in the C pillar as the Grandeur Mk1 concept car. The test vehicle rode on two-tone wheels and had vertical headlights that were similar to the avant-garde Staria minivan. According to reports, the rear adopts a narrow LED light bar that extends across the entire width the trunk lid and bumper.
The Grandeur’s redesign is expected to increase in size, and it will be visible for the first-time at five meters (197 inches). This stretch will allow Hyundai to install reclining rear chairs for passengers who have ample legroom. This is logical considering that the Genesis G80 will be slightly longer than the overall length.
According to reports from Korea, it will share the platform alongside the K8 but with a more luxurious version with individual seats that can be sold alongside the regular 5-seat model. A fully electric variant is also being considered to enhance the connection to the Heritage concept.
The Azera was also known as the Grandeur, and it is possible that the Grandeur will debut next year, seeing as the prototype spotted looked to have all the last parts in place.
