BMW X8 Coupe-SUV Still Available, Despite the XM

Of course we need more large SUVs.

BMW has unveiled the XM Concept. This BMW is only the second standalone M model it has ever produced. It should be available for assembly in 2022. It will be a distinctively-looking, performance hybrid SUV which will take the flagship position in the company’s utility lineup. A new report claims that the XM will not be the only large SUV to join BMW’s lineup over the next few years.

AutoBild has published a new article that provides an unofficial roadmap for the upcoming Bimmers. It claims that the X8 is still on the horizon for a market launch next spring. Although it will be marketed as a coupe-SUV replacement for the X7, we expect it to be less powerful and more affordable than the XM. According to German publications, a starting price is estimated at EUR100,000. That’s roughly $112,900 at current exchange rates.

The current X6M starts at $109,000. In the United States, however, this is a full-fledged M model. The XM will likely cost more, possibly close to $160,000. This is an assumption, as BMW has not yet announced pricing for the XM.

We have seen the X8 on public roads a few times, and it was massive. We thought these prototypes were previewing the production version XM. However, it now appears that two large SUVs are coming. However, don’t accept everything that was said above as fact. This new report doesn’t offer enough insider information for us to be convinced about its credibility.

BMW’s XM will appeal to “non-conformist” as well as “extroverted”, customers with its performance SUV. The production version will retain 90% of the original design. It will also be powered by a plug in hybrid V8 engine with approximately 750 horsepower (552kilowatts).
