Chevy Silverado Custom Trail Boss Ditches Double Cab For 2022

This is the only crew-cab pickup truck.

You can buy a pickup truck in almost any configuration in the United States. Nearly is what we mean here. You can’t buy a pickup truck with monster tires and an open top. Although it may seem a little outlandish, Chevrolet has indeed taken a configuration from its Silverado lineup for 2022.

It refers to the rugged Custom Trail Boss trim. You can have your truck in a Double Cab or larger crew cab configuration by 2021. A Double Cab Custom Trail Bosss is not an option in Chevrolet’s online configurator for 2022. The only option for the 2022 Custom Trail Bosss is a Crew Cab with either a short or standard bed. Single-cab Silverados are reserved for base WT models. We’ve reached out to Chevrolet to confirm the change. If we receive a response, we will update you.

However, that doesn’t mean the Double Cab truck has disappeared completely. Although the cab-and a half is available in WT, Custom and LT guises, crew cab models remain a priority. This option is available in all trims of Chevrolet, even the high-end High Country trucks. The Custom Trail Boss is available starting at $46,895 and includes a $1695 destination fee. Four-wheel drive is standard on the Traill Boss as it’s aimed at off-road action.

Chevrolet may have axed its Double Cab Trail Boss in 2022 due to production delays related to COVID-19 or semiconductor shortages. We have already seen some options removed by GM vehicles because of chip shortages. But sales could also be an issue. We don’t have sales data for the Double Cab models because Chevrolet doesn’t give them. However, pickup trucks are quickly replacing sedans in America as the most popular family vehicle. Large interiors are in high demand.
