It will reach 62 mph (100 km/h), in the low-to-mid two-second range.
Lexus Electrified Sports is your name. Toyota and its luxury division showed today a variety of EVs that will be coming in the next years. The most exciting being a fully-fledged Lexus-badged hypercar without a combustion engine. We love the low-slung coupe and hope that most of its design will be transferred to the production model.
Yes, it will be a concept car and eventually hit the streets. With its long, imposing hood and boomerang-shaped headlights, the hypercar has an aerodynamic kit and large wheel arches that house wide tires. The Electrified Sports’s swoopy roofline makes it look fast, even while standing still. Meanwhile, the rear end features interesting taillights that remind us of the Audi E-Tron GT.
Like the other electric concepts, Lexus has not yet shown the interior of the hypercar. We do have some technical details to share. The LFA’s spiritual successor, Lexus, will cover the sprint between 0 and 62 mph (100 km/h), in the low-two-second range. This allows Lexus to compete with the likes of the Rimac Nevera or Tesla Model S Plaid.
Although the maximum range advertised for this vehicle is over 435 miles (700 km), neither Toyota nor Lexus has specified the test cycle on which it is based. The two-seater Electrified Sport will support solid-state batteries. This will be a long process, however, as the Japanese automakers already stated that hybrids would be preferred over EVs when it comes to solid-state battery adoption.
The LFA is more than speculation. Toyota’s press release and head honcho AkyoToyoda both mentioned the naturally-aspirated V10 engine: “Lexus will create a next generation battery EV sports car that inherits either the driving taste or the secret sauce of the performance cultivated through the development of LFA.”
