These are the two first of 26 mid-engine police vehicles you’ll find in France.
We reported in October that the French Ministry of Interior had ordered 26 units of Alpine A110. The National Gendarmerie will use these mid-engine sports cars. Two of these A110 are now visible, revealing the new face for French governance law enforcement.
The National Gendarmerie, France’s police force that focuses on small towns and rural areas of less than 20,000 people, is the French version. Police Nationale, on the other hand is responsible for Paris as well as other urban areas.
Blue livery is available for the A110 police car. This goes well with this Alpine. The stripes and “Gendarmerie wordmark” are used on the hood, roof and side panels. The side also has a French maxim that reads “Our Commitment to Your Safety”, roughly translated into English.
Reflective decals are required at the front and back. The flashing siren lights at the top, which are blue in this instance, also need to be reflective. Notable is the French government’s order for the Alpine A110 to have 18-inch wheels, which are larger than the standard 17 inches.
These mid-engine sports cars, which are also police cars, will be used to chase high-speed criminals, especially for drug operations.
The Alpine A110 sports car is lightweight and produces 249 horsepower (185 kilowatts) as well as 236 pound-feet (242 Newton-meters) of torque. The 2022 model year has received a facelift, including simplified variant names and a boost in power for A110 S.
The A110 S now produces 300 hp (340 Nm) and 251 lbft (251 lb-ft) of torque. This is an increase of 12 ponies and 15 Lb-ft (20 Nm), over the predecessor.
