One horsepower should be more than 1,000.
Although I generally dislike crossovers and SUVs the Lamborghini Urus is one exception. It’s always a treat to see one on the roads. Although it looks more aggressive than the supercars of a few years ago, it packs more power than those cars. However, some people will always desire more. This is the case with Poland’s wildest LM002successor, thanks to a collaboration between Mansory & MTM.
The Urus has been dialed up by the tuners, in terms of visual drama as well as the power delivered under the hood by the 4.0-liter V8. Mansory’s radical makeover gives the Lambo Rambo modern more edge, with huge air intakes that are likely visible from the moon. The aero kit includes a large diffuser that houses a centrally mounted triple exhaust system. It has trapezoidal finishers and reminds us of Ghostface in the Scream movies.
MTM was responsible to extracting more power from the engine. To handle the additional load, MTM fitted two larger turbochargers and an upgraded intake system. A ZF eight-speed automatic transmission was also added to support it. The Urus’ 1,001 horsepower is a huge improvement on the original Bugatti Veyron and its quad-turbo W16 8.0-liter engine.
MTM’s stage 3 kit has increased the torque to 1,250 Newton-meters (922 pounds-feet) which is mountain-moving. This electronic control system prevents damage to the gearbox already stressed out. Although performance numbers are not available, this beast from Sant’Agata Boolognese should be comparable to a standard Urus. The stock “Super SUV”, which takes 3.6 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h), before reaching 190 mph (355 km/h).
MTM isn’t the only one to work on this engine. We first discussed the current-generation Audi RS6 Avant with four-digit horsepower. Lamborghini might give the Urus a mid-cycle facelift and increase the output of the V8 by 650 horsepower. We expect it to debut in 2022.
