BMW explains why Z4 looks completely different from Supra

Toyota and BMW employees are very vocal about the new Supra And Z4 They are very different machines despite sharing the same platform, powertrains and engine. Bimmer’s Design Director Adrian Van Hooydonk says the collaboration was essentially a one-on-one conversation with his counterpart at Toyota.

“He’s Japanese, I’m Dutch, and we instantly understood each other in terms both of what we expect from our engineers and in terms proportions. It was a one-off conversation. “We immediately agreed on the difficult points and what our wants in terms of proportions,” Van Hooydonk explained to Top Gear. He stated that the two teams did not reconvene until the design process was completed.
