In 2022, availability may be restored.
According to a report by GM Authority, the sedans that are available with the Super Cruise advanced driving assistance system are no longer available to anyone who is looking to purchase a 2022 Cadillac CT4 and CT5. Motor1.com reached out to Cadillac for confirmation.
The packages that include Super Cruise remain available on Cadillac’s configurators as of the writing of this article.
These Cadillacs are losing their high-tech driving assistance system because of the global microchip storage. According to GM Authority, Super Cruise will not return to these Cadillacs until the early 2022.
This news about the dropping of Super Cruise follows a report by Cadillac about the removal of park assist features from certain 2022 Cadillac XT4, XT5, or XT6 models. The tech’s availability varies according to the trim level. This does not affect the CT4, CT5 or Escalade.
In September, Cadillac had to eliminate Super Cruise from the 2022 Escalade . Again, it was the chip shortage that was at fault.
Super Cruise received an over-the-air upgrade that added more features. The driver can now activate the device while towing. You can also perform automatic lane changes, but this is not possible while towing. The new navigation software displays roads compatible with Super Cruise.
It is an option on the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado as well as the GMC Sierra. If the chip shortage continues to affect the Cadillac models, then interested buyers may want to order a Super Cruise truck sooner than expected.
General Motors applied for trademarks to mark the terms Hyper Cruise and Ultra Cruise . This suggests that the company intends to use the “Cruise” branding for driving assistance tech across its models.
