The crossover is powered by turbo engines of 1.2- or 1.3-liter.
General Motors’ new crossover, the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer goes on sale in spring 2020 for a starting price “below $20,000” after taxes and dealer fees. Unfortunately, this is all Chevy has to offer at the moment. However, they promise more details about trims and options pricing closer to the date. For comparison purposes, the Ford EcoSport starts at $20,485 for 2020, while the 2020 Honda HRV is priced at $20,820.
The new Trailblazer isn’t just competitively priced, as Chevy promises it offers “a uniquely young, yet functional alternative for the fast-growing small SUV sector.” This means that you can expect a sporty design and enough space to accommodate five people. The bold front fascia matches the two-tone roof in the ACTIV trim. An RS model, which is sportier looking, is also available.
The powertrains for the newly redesigned model are now available. It has a 1.2-liter and 1.3-liter turbo units that produce up to 155 horsepower (115kilowatts). Both models come standard with a continuously variable transmission, with selectable stop/start capabilities. The more powerful model can be ordered with an optional nine-speed automatic.
Trailblazer shares an all-wheel drive system with Blazer and Traverse. This means that you can activate the AWD for off-roading and deactivate it when it isn’t needed. FWD models come in three drive modes: Snow, Normal, and Sport.
“Sitting between the Trax, Equinox, and the Trailblazer, the addition to the Chevy SUV family provides us with great opportunities to expand the Chevy brand to new audiences,” Steve Majoros (director of Chevrolet passenger car/crossover marketing), comments. We can appeal to customers’ active lifestyles with the new ACTIV trim and the sporty RS trim.
