These two variants are sure to be a great addition to the range.
The Volkswagen Jetta has been completely redesigned for 2019. The seventh-generation sedan has a more luxurious look inside and out. It also features a lower starting price at $18,545 which is less than the previous model. We saw most of the standard trims in Detroit. However, we know that a GLI version with high-performance is on the horizon and possibly even a Golf-inspired model.
With this news in mind XTomi Design created the new Jetta with a hot GLI design and R makeovers. Digital transformation brings out the sporty elements of the GTI and Golf R without compromising the Jetta’s upscale look.
The Jetta GLI concept features the same Tornado Red finish as the GTI and an updated version the five-spoke wheels. Front fascia gets a bigger lower grille, vents at the corners and a blacked out look. The grille’s central section is adorned with a distinctive red stripe.
This rendering and the spy shots that precede it are a good indication of how hot the Jetta GLI will be. The Jetta GLI will feature the same turbocharged 2.0-liter engine as the GTI, which is expected to produce between 210 and 220 horsepower (156 kilowatts to 164 kW).
The even more popular Jetta R is not yet in the VW range. This rendering is interesting regardless. The Jetta R concept, which is the same blue as the base model’s, adds more definition to the grille. It has a larger section and sculpted vents at the corners. The GLI renderings have retained the blacked-out treatment. The “R” badge can be found in the lower left corner.
These Jetta renderings are stunning. In a matter of months, the GLI will join the Jetta lineup. While VW does not plan to introduce an R model, the German marque will introduce the R-Line trim. This will include styling elements such as a new grille and new wheels.
