Combining forces: Overlanding rigs with off-road camper vans

The number of options is greater than ever and will only get better with the merger of two industry giants. Storyteller Overland today announced that it has acquired Global Expedition Vehicles.

While mergers can be worrying for many reasons, this pairing should yield some interesting results. GXV, one of the most renowned expedition vehicle manufacturers in the world, is a specialist in custom adventure rigs. Storyteller Overland is known for its high-end, off-road Class A camper vans.

While both companies produce high-end products they operate in different markets. GXV believes in creating long-range, reliable, go-anywhere machines. Storyteller, on the other hand, builds great off-road camper vans without any compromises. Both brands believe in off-the-grid living, which gives customers the most freedom.

Rene Van Pelt, cofounder and owner of GXV, said that the merger would allow both companies to grow together in a collaborative production.

Jeffrey Hunter, founder and CEO of Storyteller Overland, said that the merger was an “exciting moment for the whole overlanding community”. He also stated that the company is “energized” by the idea of what they will create together going forward.

While the company will continue to provide its Expedition Vehicles to customers as usual, GXV will be able to expand its market for their Adventure Truck Series products through the merger. Storyteller will be able to assemble larger, repeat-built Adventure Truck units at its Alabama facility. This will allow it to meet increasing demand. GXV claims it will continue to be involved in the development of its products. It will be fascinating to see what they create together in the future.
