2022 Ford Bronco Raptor Debuts to Dominate Deserts with More Than 400 HP

It is inspired by Ultra4 racing and has extensive suspension upgrades to allow for high-speed stability as well as low-speed crawling.

The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor will further fuel the demand for the Ford Bronco. It features a significantly upgraded chassis that has more suspension travel, greater ground clearance and a wider track to make more use of the more than 400 horsepower under its hood. This makes it a strong contender for the Bronco brand’s halo vehicle.

Ford CEO Jim Farley stated, “We put all of our passions and all of the Bronco- and Raptor knowledge-how into creating this absolute desert racing beast.” It’s the real thing. It’s not just for show. It’s for those who enjoy the outdoors and want to be free. Only Ford could make a Bronco Raptor.

You can use it with more power and strength

Let’s get to the bottom of the question. However, Ford is not yet ready to provide all details. The Bronco Raptor is now equipped with a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 that produces at least 400 horsepower (298kW). Although power and torque figures have not yet been determined, this engine produces 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet (56 Newton-meters) in the Explorer ST. Ford claims the engine will be tuned to the Raptor’s needs and will breathe through an enhanced induction system that includes enhanced intercooling, true-dual multimode exhaust and an upgraded motor-injection system.

If drivers want more control, the only transmission available is the 10-speed manual that can be paddle-shifted. The larger driveshafts are connected to the upgraded Dana axles that are shared with the and street-legal Bronco Drag Racing SUV. The upgraded 4×4 system includes a larger transfer case and a more powerful clutch. Additionally, the Baja Mode has been modified to include an anti-lag system. Bronco Raptor has a tow/haul option with a maximum towing weight of 4,500 pounds.

Ultra4 Racing Inspires Suspension

While more power is always nice, the real news is the prolific suspension upgrades that draw on the ultra-competitive Ultra4 Racing series. These axles are just a part of the upgrade to High-Performance Off Road Stability Suspension. (HOSS). This system adds Fox semiactive dampers that are similar to those found on the F150 Raptor. Sensors monitor the suspension height and terrain conditions and adjust damper settings automatically. This all connects to a strengthened frame with stiffer shock towers and Ford Performance’s front/rear control arm down low.

The Bronco Raptor’s suspension travel is 13.0 inches in front and 14.0 inches back. This is an improvement of 60% forward and 40% aft over a base Bronco. Raptors have 50 percent more rigidity due to their wider stance (8.6 inches). Skid plates beneath cover all important components and ensure that drivers do not use any of the minimum ground clearance.

Widebody from The Factory

There are two types of 17-inch beadlock capable wheels, wrapped in 37 inch BFGoodrich K02 tires. Ford claims that these tires are the largest ever used on a factory-stock SUV. The Bronco Raptor’s electric steering rack and tierods have been upgraded to handle the heavy rubber. With the huge fender flares, it measures 9.8 inches wider than the standard model. Flares aren’t the only exterior upgrade. Ford also swaps the quarter panels, hood, and fenders for Raptor-specific parts. The package includes door appliques and the iconic Raptor grille featuring bold Ford branding.

Ford Performance also offers a unique front bumper with built-in tow hooks and unique daytime running lights. The exterior of the Bronco Raptor Graphics package adds splatter patterns to the exterior. Yes, the Raptor will also get Code Orange as an exterior option. The trim package includes more Code Orange, as well as a 12-inch digital cluster with a Raptor setting. The standard equipment for Bronco Raptor includes a thicker steering column, Ford Performance-quality seats, and the High Package.
