This configuration is the only Rock Star that the company has built.
The Mitsuoka Rock Star describes what happens when you take an Mazda MX-5 Miata, and give it styling cues from the Chevy Corvette. The company has stopped production of the bizarre model after introducing it in 2018. This is the only model the company is making in left-hand drive.
Rock Star’s unique design is based upon a Miata that was sold in Canada. The exterior is in Passion Blood Red. As with the rest of these models there are chrome bumpers as well as a metal strip at each end. The roadster is 15 inches in diameter and has five-spoke wheels that look retro. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the Torq Thrust classic design.
The interior looks straight out of the Miata. The seats are made of bright red leather and have a black stripe at the center. This design is reflected in the door panels. The steering wheel has a Mitsuoka badge.
Left-hand-drive Rock Star shares the Miata Skyactiv-G 2.0 engine, which produces 181 horsepower (135 Kilowatts), and 151 poundfeet (2205 Newton-meters). Through a six-speed auto, the power is transferred to the rear wheels. It is 2,491 lbs (1,130 kg).
Mitsuoka plans to sell the left-hand-drive Rock Star via a lottery. Entry costs 500,000 yen (or $4,358 at the current exchange rate). The company will accept only 100 submissions. Submissions will be closed on February 14th. For the unique vehicle, the winner must pay 9,900,000.00 yen ($86.299).
Mitsuoka introduced the Rock Star in October 2018, and quickly received reservations for the entire 200-unit run. The last of these units was delivered by the company in late 2021.
Mitsuoka is now free to concentrate on the Buddy. The crossover uses a Toyota RAV4, and transforms it to look like a Chevy Blazer.
