The largest electric SUV in the company will be updated in 2022, and then replaced four years later.
The Volkswagen Group seems to be announcing or revealing a new electric vehicle every week. Audi introduced the Q5 E-Tron last Friday and now the company is revealing plans to launch a new flagship electric vehicle. In an interview with RTL Information the chief honcho of Four Rings revealed plans to launch the Q8 E-Tron by 2026.
According to reports, Audi engineers will replace the old battery pack and make the electric motors more efficient in order to get more range. Both the E-Tron Sportback and the E-Tron Sportback will receive the same updates. They should both be announced next year, before they are retired in 2026 to make way for the Q8 E-Tron. Although it’s not yet clear if the Sportback will be given to the latter, Ingolstadt’s method of operation makes it seem like a safe bet that a coupe-styled variant will. The Q6 E-Tron will also be available next year. This is Audi’s first model that rides on the PPE platform developed with Porsche. It will launch the next-gen Macan as an EV, and possibly with a new moniker.
