Robo Dog is a huge fan of the EV6 and will risk everything to find happiness.
The teasers for Kia’s Super Bowl advertisement have been seen. Each one features a robot dog, officially known as Robo Dog, and a Kia Ev6. It is clear that the automaker wants to promote its electric crossover with a wide audience. But how do you get people who aren’t interested in cars to be interested? It’s like a puppy that chases a car and then kills it. Wait, what?
This video is only a minute long, but it does have a happy end. The video begins with the robot pup charging in a shop. It dreams of a permanent home with its EV6 driver outside.
Robo Dog chases after an EV6 as a customer walks into the store. There are a series of nearly there moments that follow. We honestly don’t know if you feel any emotions if you aren’t rooting for the mechanical mutt with its adorable puppy dog eyes win.
The car finally appears within reach, but unfortunately Robo Dog’s batteries have almost died. The dog almost makes it home with a last-ditch effort, but the world turns black before it can land. Robo Dog’s last sight before the end is the Kia roof, but the poor dog never makes it home. This isn’t the end. Robo Dog can see the driver smiling back. The driver plugged the dog into the EV6, giving it a full charge. Robo Dog, his happy, round eyes and its new family enjoy the ride.
This commercial is part a larger marketing campaign for Kia. It will be partnered with the Petfinder Foundation to help real-world animals find forever homes, just as Robo Dog did.
Toni Morgan, Petfinder Foundation’s executive director, said that “we are proud to partnerwith Kia America for the Super Bowl campaign.” We hope to place many animals in the coming weeks. “Countless animals require loving, forever homes. The human-animal relationship is crucial and can provide years of companionship, happiness, comfort, as well as companionship for both owner and animal.
