Many consider Juan Manuel Fangio the greatest racing driver ever. many of your favorite drivers would refer to him as one of their favorites drivers. The Argentinian driver’s contributions to motorsports will be forever etched in history. Here’s your chance for one of his most prized vehicles.

El Maestro has his 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster up for auction RM Sotheby’s. The auction will take place from February 28th to March 4th 2022. The buyers’ premium will not be considered by clients, but they can offer an all-in price to their clients.

Fangio may have been associated to multiple automakers during his racing career but it is clear that he was deeply connected with MercedesBenz. The Mercedes 300 SL Roadster was given to Fangio by the German marque when he retired in 1958. It is finished in Metallic Light Blue over Creme with a similar motif as the Argentinian flag. Mercedes continued to show its generosity to Fangio, eventually naming him President of Mercedes-Benz Argentina in 1974.

Records show that Fangio traveled more than 70,000 km (43,496 mi) in his 300 SL Roadster during extensive touring through Europe and South America. Fangio’s prized motorcar was kept in a museum that was established in 1986. It still bears all the El Maestro patina.

The 300 SL Roadster is still in its original gear selector, steering wheels, and seats. These original parts will be cherished by fans of Fangio. They are the exact things that El Maestro used during his final years of motorsports.

Fangio’s 300 SL Roadster will be heading to London for inspection. Then, it will travel to the Royal Automobile Club before going to the International Concours of Elegance, in Switzerland.
