Classic Land Rover Defender Defender Restomod Goes Electric with Tesla Power

E.C.D. Automotive Design adds one Tesla motor to give it 450 horsepower and a range of 220-miles.

Florida-based E.C.D. Automotive Design is familiar with the Land Rover Defender. We have seen many custom builds that combine the Defender’s old-school off-roader features with a powerful V8 engine. However, this time, there won’t be a V8 engine under its hood. You won’t even find any engine under the hood, as this sucker is electrical.

There are actually two electrified Defenders here, but they both have the same running gear underneath. You’ll find an 100kWh battery pack, a single Tesla motor and internal combustion. This makes the vehicle 450 horsepower. It still delivers power to all four wheels, as it’s a Land Rover Defender. Both have an upgraded air-ride suspension and BF Goodrich all terrain tires. You can accelerate to 60 mph in just five seconds. However, gentler power applications deliver a range of 220 miles.

Project Britton, as seen in the photo gallery above, uses stock brakes to drive and has an exterior color of Cool Khaki Grey that gives off a blue tone. The interior is filled with leather and cloth in black and beige tones, as well as all the wood trim which includes Teak in cargo area for flooring and rear bench.

Project Morpheus (not shown) is more rugged and has upgraded axles with limited-slip differentials. Although it lacks Project Britton’s wood trim, you will still find leather and a loud stereo inside. There is also seating for six. The classic Defender outfit includes roof racks, grille guards and external lights.
