Beware of criminals from the Land Down Under
Australia is not the first country to offer right-hand drive conversions of Dodge cars. SCD Remanufactured Vehicles, one of the companies involved in this meticulous transformation, is available for sale in Australia and overseas markets such as Papua New Guinea.
According to Australian publication CarExpert, the Dodge Charger is the most recent of these conversions. This isn’t a regular four-door sedan. SCD converted two Dodge Charger Pursuits that came from Ontario, Canada. The Queensland Police Force is expected to use it, but confirmation of that remains elusive at this time.
The Charger Pursuit is available in both rear-wheel drive V8 or all-wheel drive V6, but the original police cars that were converted for Australia use the Pentastar V6 engine. The one in the rear is driven, while the other has all four paws. However, SCD informed the publication that interested parties could order them in any specification desired.
We all know that Charger Pursuits come with black steel wheels, front seats designed for police officers that can accommodate duty belts, four programmeable auxiliary switches, and many other features. As well as bulletproof doors, windows and light bars, the ubiquitous light bars are included up top.
The Dodge Charger Pursuit units, if confirmed, will join the existing fleet of Queensland police cars. CarExpert reports that the Queensland police force has a Kia Stinger and a few hybrid Toyota units which will be used as general patrol vehicles. Australian-made V8 Ford sedans and Holdens are the mainstays of the fleet.
Not to be missed: SCD Remanufactured Vehicles has the Ram 1500TRX, while the Ford F-150 , Ford Bronco, and the Ford F-150 are listed on its website as Coming Soon.
