Fully optioned, it can sleep six people and is capable of four seasons.
You don’t always need a van for #vanlife. This is a pickup truck and, more specifically, a camper shell. This is the first model from Scout campers. The Olympic is a minimalist camper that offers impressive space and capabilities.
Scout states that this shell, which is relatively small, can accommodate no less than six people. This is more than what you will find in a truck. However, it has a large pop-up canopy with a bed that can fit two people. There is enough space for two additional people in the cabover extension. The dinette area can also be converted to accommodate two more adventurers. Although the roof-top tent option is available, it is not a necessity. However, four people can be accommodated in a standard camper shell.
The standard features include 160 watts solar power on the roof, dual 5-pound propane tanks, a five gallon water tank, stainless steel sink with an exterior drain, as well as the dinette area that can seat four for meals. Options make the Olympic an all-encompassing, all-weather camper with a 3,000 BTU heater, a small refrigerator/freezer, portable toilet, portable cooktop stove, and of course the pop-top tent to name a few.
The Olympic uses an aluminum exoskeleton frame and gel coat fiberglass roof, regardless of what equipment it has. Pendleton outdoor and indoor fabrics are used. It is equipped with smoke, gas and carbon monoxide detectors. It has a ratchet tie down system and is RVIA-compliant.
Scout claims that the Olympic is very customizable as shown by the large number of options in the company’s brochure. The price for the slide-in pickup camper is $19,980 and is now available for preorder.
