Floating Motors Reimagines the Boating Experience With Recreated Car Designs

Jaguar E-Type looks like a boat.

There are many personal watercraft available, but boats and automobiles don’t share much in common since the 1930s. Floating Motors, a new company, is trying to change this. For “Resto-Floating”, the company plans to reinvent the personal watercraft, transforming some of the most iconic cars in the world into sleek-looking boats.

A gallery of designs has been created by the company that recreates the Mini Cooper and the VW Type 2 Bus. The VW has a deck on the top and a rear hatch which opens to create a lounge area or a diving platform. You can even climb out of the water with the ladder. It could be converted into a watercraft camper van. The company will offer crafts in a variety of lengths. These can be small, 3 to 3.5 metres (9.8-11.5 feet), or extra-large, measuring up to 7.5m (24.6 feet).

Floating Motors offers three types of hulls for its creation: foil, conventional, and catamaran. Five models are currently available, each with an engine – an electric outboard motor – that produces between 40 and 220 horsepower (30 and 179 Kilowatts), depending on the model. Customers have the option to choose which type of suspension they want. According to the company, the craft can be used for many purposes including as a taxi that could transport people across the ocean.

Floating Motors is a joint venture of Jet Capsule S.r.L. (an Italian watercraft builder) and Lazzarini Design Studio. Jet Capsule S.r.L. Jet Capsule S.r.L. was founded in 2012 but the original idea for the company dates back as far as 2010. The company delivered its first product in 2016. It also began exporting to Canada, Spain, and China in 2016. We find the creations of Floating Motors more appealing, and can’t wait for these to be out on the water. However, there is no timetable as to when production will begin. It could take a few more years, judging by Jet Capsule’s history.
