You don’t have to place a bet on who will win.
The winner is almost a foregone conclusion when a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon stands next to a Dodge Charger SRT 392 on a drag strip. You don’t have to guess who the winner is, but you can watch the Demon and see how fast you can go with the extra cash.
The Charger driver is a sloppy driver, and has an interminable reaction speed when the light turns green. The Challenger is already a few cars down the track before the sedan.
The Challenger crosses the finish line in 10.75 seconds, traveling 129.6 mph (208.57 km/h) at the other end. The video describes that this was the Demon’s first drag race. It also covered the quarter-mile in 10.75 seconds at 129.6 miles per hour (208.57 kilometers per hour). One of our testers was able to cover the quarter-mile with slick tires in 9.83 seconds.
The Charger SRT392 crosses the line in 12.52 seconds, at 111.89 MPH (180 km/h). Although the car is slower than the Demon, this car still has at least 323 horsepower (241 kW less) and may have as much as 355 horsepower (265 kW) when the Challenger runs on 100-plus octane fuel.
A Charger SRT392 starts at $51,145 and the Demon is no longer in production, but it can command six figures on the second-hand market . This is a huge price difference. The Charger’s additional doors and subdued engine make it more user-friendly for daily driving. The Demon is, however, the most striking machine.
