A well-maintained suspension and body is ready to play in the dirt.
This is an unusual move by the long-standing automaker, but Moor is the latest to join the off-roader movement. The brand unveils the Morgan PLUS Four CX-T, which features a variety of upgrades to make the roadster more capable in dirt. These machines are limited to eight and available for PS170,000 each.
The CX-T has an external roll cage that covers the passenger compartment, and lights attached to it above the roof. Each fender has storage bags.
Morgan redesigned the rear section to make a space large enough to store two spare full-size wheels. The space includes two waterproof Pelican luggage bags, a Zarges aluminium toolbox and two Rotopax 11 liter fuel containers.
For off-road use, the Plus Four CXT has modified Plus Six wishbones which increase track width and wheel travel. It is equipped with EXETC coilovers and internal bump stops. It has a 9.05 inch (230 millimeters of) ground clearance. For greater durability, bespoke bushes can be found in the lower suspension arms.
The underbody is protected by a five-piece skid plate. A revised exhaust layout is also available that runs out the rear side to increase the departure angle.
The Plus Four features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder from BMW that produces 255 horsepower (190 Kilowatts). Morgan also receives the BMW X-Drive electronic rear diff with custom software. There are three options: Road with an open differential; All-Terrain Extreme has a 45 percent lock; and All-Terrain Extreme has a 100 percent lock.
Morgan engineers designed the CX-T’s cabin with a composite hardtop that fits between the external and internal roll cages. Mounting tracks are located on the dashboard to hold items such as a camera or phone. In the passenger footwell, you will find an insulated cooler bag and a removable map holder. An emergency kit can be found behind the seats.
Morgan is accepting orders for the CX-T. It plans to build all eight of them before the end the year.
