The exterior can be decorated with many carbon fiber accents by X5 owners. These accents can be used to cover the air intake trim and front and rear wingslets, diffuser, side sills, and mirror caps. There are also 20-inch Star Spoke wheels available in matte black, as well as a 22 inch version.

A set of M Performance brakes can be ordered by performance-minded buyers. These brakes include four-piston red fixed calipers at each axle. They clamp on to inner-vented, perforated discs.

There are many ways to sporty the new X5 inside. The new steering wheel has an Alcantara cover and a red marker at the 12 o’clock position. Carbon fiber shift paddles are also available to complete the performance-oriented look. You can also get smaller M Performance touches, such as branded floor mats or pedals. You can also make the puddle lamps display the M logo. BMW offers an Alcantara or carbon fiber key wallet that features the emblem of the performance division for the true M-fan.
