Next-Gen Mini Cooper Electric EV Tested in Cold Weather

Mini will also offer a gasoline-powered version.

Mini tried its hand at electric vehicles with the CooperSE, a two door all-electric vehicle that the company introduced in 2020. It is noteworthy that the SE will account for eight percent in the brand’s US sales. It appears that the brand has found new strength and the company is now doubling down. New spy photos reveal the Cooper EV’s next generation, which is currently in development. The vehicle has been cold-weather tested in the snow.

Camouflage and cladding are used to hide the test vehicle’s design. Although the car retains its sporty hatch proportions it will be slightly smaller than the current model. Faux headlight rings, taillights and a hood scoop are used to confuse the eye. However, it is difficult to miss large stickers indicating that the car is an “Electric Test Vehicle”. Although it doesn’t appear very different from the outside, there may be significant changes inside.

Although the spy photos don’t show all of the interior, they do show some. Mini-lovers might be disappointed. The next-gen electric Cooper will have a large, curved dashboard that is similar to the one BMW uses in its other models. Minis are well-known for their quirky and unique interior design. However, it’s not possible to change the current layout.

There are many things that could change between now, and the time when the model will arrive. This is not until 2023. Things could change as a result of this early stage in the development process. Mini will not abandon its push for electric vehicles. Mini has stated that it will discontinue ICE-powered cars by 2025 and switch entirely to producing EVs in the early 2030s. The next-generation Cooper will also be available in a gasoline-powered version.
