Two vehicle architectures will be used by the automaker.
Land Rover has yet to reveal an all-electric vehicle. It was confirmed that Solihull’s first zero-emission utility will be available in 2024. JLR’s Reimagine strategy includes off-road specialists. This should lead to a net zero carbon business by 2039.
The business plan was announced earlier today. It also includes Jaguar becoming all-electric starting in 2025. This will allow Land Rover to launch six electric Land Rover models over the next five year. The automaker will offer an electric version for every nameplate by the end of the decade.
Land Rover expects that 60 percent of its 2030 sales will be from zero-trailpipe emission vehicles. The automaker will begin building new vehicles on the upcoming flex Modular Longitudinal architecture (MLA), which will enable greater use of electrified engines. Land Rover will use the Electric Modular Architecture for certain models.
Land Rover will be more dependent on “collaboration” and knowledge-sharing with other companies that fall under the Tata umbrella to make the transition to electric vehicles easier. Jaguar Land Rover could be one of the most profitable luxury producers in the world thanks to the synergies created by this move.
It’s not clear at this time what the first electric Land Rover will look. Rumours that we’re only a few months away are based on, but it seems this is not the case. It’s likely that the reports about the first zero-emission Land Rover have been exaggerated. The announcement was made in 2024.
