Although the result is not surprising, it’s a great way to celebrate a milestone.
Motor1 Italia just celebrated 500,000 subscribers. Our Italian arm decided to race all generations of the Fiat 500 in an straight-line race to celebrate this milestone. All rear-engined versions plus the new 500e, which is powered by electric motors, are included. It was a drag race that marked a significant milestone.
Only three-door hatchbacks remain. Pre-war Fiat 500, also known as the Topolino It is not included because it is the only front-engined version the Italian city car. We doubt that the team was able find a suitable sample for a drag race.
The Fiat 500e EVO is the latest version and dominates the race. It was interesting to see how the Fiat Cinquecento held its own against the third generation model. It is important to note that the production of the Cinquecento ceased in 1998 and the next model began rolling off the assembly line in 2007. We expected a very different outcome after separating them for several years.
The Cinquecento was also the Sporting model. It was powered by one of the largest engines in the range for that generation, giving it an edge over the 500.
Four cars that represent decades of change. It is amazing to see how the 500 evolved from a small, slow, and noisy hatchback to a quiet cruiser that can be driven on the highway. It has been a great representation of Italian motoring, despite all the changes. The electric version has made it more future-proof.
With all that being said, there’s no better way to mark Motor1 Italia‘s milestone just in time for the holiday season.
