After its Tokyo Motor Show debut, Suzuki began accepting Japanese orders for the Alto Works.

The new Alto Works, which is based on the Alto Turbo RS engine, is Suzuki’s way to say that you don’t have to have a huge engine with enormous power in order for fun. It is a kei vehicle, so the engine it uses is a turbocharged inline three 660cc engine that generates 64 horsepower and 74 pound-feet torque. This may not sound like much, but it is a light car that can be driven with either a front-wheel drive setup or an optional AWD configuration.

The Alto Turbo RS comes only with a 5-speed automatic transmission. However, the Alto Works is also available with a standard five speed short-throw manual. This makes the car more enjoyable to drive. This new model has a slightly more powerful engine and a better throttle response. The steering is also more precise, having been recalibrated.

The vehicle also has a 15-inch alloy wheel, a modified suspension with KYB shocks and a sportier bodykit to make it more muscular. The vehicle has red front brake discs, chrome headlight bezels and Recaro front seats. There are also red interior accents and a steel pedal set.

Suzuki sells the Alto Works only at home in Japan for an equivalent price of about $12,500.
