It’s not a Corvette
Mary Barra was the first woman to become the CEO of a Big Three American automaker. General Motors is still led by her and she launched many special products. It may seem like one of the most highly paid executives in the automotive sector drives a powerful and exotic daily driver. But, it turns out this is not the case.
Barra spoke extensively about the future of the industry and electric vehicles in a recent interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin at the New York Times DealBook Online Summit. She was then asked about her daily car. It was quite surprising.
“I drive a Bolt EV. It’s great. Barra stated that when people drive an electric car, they will find that they are not giving up anything, in fact, they’re getting it. The customer experience is excellent. Interestingly, a GM spokesperson Dan Flores stated to the Detroit Free Press that the Bolt Marra is currently driving is under recall. However, it is not known if the problem has been resolved yet.
Barra has many other cars. Her husband is a Camaro enthusiast, and her son loves Firebirds. The family owns a Corvette, and they are waiting to receive a revived Hummer with an electrical powertrain. Barra was also added to the “list along with over 200,000 other Lyriq hand-raisers.” How long will she wait for the electric crossover?
“Well, I try my best to be fair. It’s important that I demonstrate our product. I signed up for the Hummer like everyone else. Barra said that when we launched the Hummer, the internet was too slow. So, I texted GMC Buick’s head and managed to get on the waiting list.
